Off day

Time to take a breather.  Today will just be a few links to articles I haven’t had the opportunity to blog about yet.

First up, a Tony Zonca piece about journeyman Joey Hammond.  Money quote:

“I am a positive, upbeat person by nature,” he said. “I have a tremendous amount of faith that things are going to be what they’re going to be. My job here on Earth is to be as positive as I possibly can, and just know that what is happening is happening for a reason and for the best.”

It’s a very well written article - read it when you have the time.

Another former Lynx player (FLP) was featured in an article by Mike Drago of the Reading Eagle.  This is another piece which wasn’t blogged in a timely manner (i.e. while Ken was still here):

“Pitching inside for effect, not necessarily for strikes,” he said of a Mazzone philosophy. “First-pitch strikes was one of the biggest things he tried to impress on us. That’s helped me out the most, getting strike one. “(And) calling your own game. He always told us that the catcher just puts down a suggestion, and we make the call. He doesn’t want us to walk off the field say, ‘Well, the catcher called it’ It’s our decision, we’re making it, we’re in control out there.”

Sorry, it’s a busy day around here today.  Ottawa’s in Buffalo tonight for the first of four - if nothing else, they’ve got a shot at playing spoiler for the Bisons’ post-season bid.
